Tracing paper & oil paints workshop

The Creative Drawing, Sketching & 3D design students were introduced to a new creative technique using tracing paper, masking tape and oil paints.  They experimented with new ways  of expressing their threshold ideas.  The stencil like paintings they produced were fantastic!

London Trip

Our exploratory walk in London was a great success, despite the rainy weather!  We spent the day at the Design Museum near Tower Bridge where we saw Design of the Year 2015, an exhibition that combines cutting edge innovation and talent showcasing the very best in Architecture, Fashion, Graphic, Product and Transport Designs.

Collage techniques

Using images inspired by their 'threshold' concepts and from their initial investigations on campus students began constructing collages that emphasized the elements or element from their sketches that they found most interesting.  They focused on level changes, stairs, openings, canopies, arcades, ground materials etc. The campus proved to be a great source of inspiration!

Sketching

Openings also referred to as thresholds are important design elements, found everywhere in our built environment. While reading the definition one realizes that the word can be interpreted in numerous ways.  The students' main aim is to interpret and visually represent through experimentation and the techniques they will be learning how they perceive a “threshold” space. This will be accomplished through both two dimensional and three dimensional investigations.

Our students begin their creative drawing and sketching exploration on the TASIS England campus. Read all about their Creative Drawing, Sketching & 3D Design course and follow their project development!
